GlobalVision, a specialist in document quality control software for regulated industries, has launched an advanced integration with long-time technology partner Esko, with their flagship product WebCenter, further enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the packaging artwork and content management process.

The integration brings together Esko WebCenter, a web-based platform tailored for CPG and pharmaceutical teams to manage aspects of the packaging management workflow from creation to approval and distribution, with GlobalVision’s automated proofreading platform, Verify. The result means a unified and user-friendly workflow that streamlines quality inspections and ensures 100% accuracy, compliance, and print readiness.

A key feature is the single-Click file inspection tools for compliance. The built-in automated text compare, spell check, graphics, barcode and braille inspections ensure that files are compliant with global regulatory requirements by checking files as they move through the WebCenter workflow.

Security and data protection with the closed-loop integration is said to ensure that files leaving WebCenter are securely transferred to Verify, prioritising data security and protecting sensitive information.

Another feature is the seamless artwork management workflow. This reduces the number of revisions needed, improve productivity, and create more synergy in the artwork management workflow by connecting Verify to WebCenter, allowing for single click file transfers between the two.

The Verify integration in WebCenter brings together speed, precision, and security to address the challenges faced by artwork, labelling and quality control teams to save time and maintain compliance by automating proofreading throughout the artwork management process.

Michael Malz, chief product officer at GlobalVision, commented, ‘Esko and GlobalVision teams have been hard at work for many months to bring this new integration to life. Accessing GlobalVision tools from within the WebCenter workflow has been a key function our shared customers have been requesting, as it brings quality inspections right where users need them.’

Jan De Roeck, Esko director of marketing, industry relations and strategy, added, ‘We are dedicated to developing solutions that accelerate the go-to-market of packaged goods. We are always keen to ensure our customers are making the very most of their Esko software and we are delighted to have worked with GlobalVision on this integration.’

Press manufacturer Komori has expanded its partnership with finishing specialist Bograma, now selling, servicing and providing parts support in the UK and Ireland.

Komori is eager to leverage its presence and market expertise, aiming for growth through its expansion into the UK and Ireland. Previous UK and Ireland distributor Friedheim stepped back from the brand’s hardware sales in early 2023, though it says it is still offering service and spares.

The new partnership builds on its experiences in France, where Komori France has reached a similar agreement with Bograma.

The collaboration also adds a dimension to its existing H+H and MBO (Komori Group) product portfolio, which Friedheim similarly continues to support and service though it stopped selling in 2020. Through incorporating Bograma into its network, Komori UK believes it can offer an even broader range of finishing solutions to existing and new customers.

Bograma, in parallel, has demonstrated its commitment by extending its factory facilities and investing in infrastructure. This expansion aligns with Komori UK’s and underscores both companyies joint commitment to providing printing and finishing solutions.

Enthused about the expanded partnership, national sales specialist postpress Tom Baker at Komori stated, ‘Our collaboration with Bograma in the UK and Ireland is a testament to our commitment to delivering high quality finishing solutions to our customers.

‘By joining forces, we aim to bring a wider array of innovative finishing options, further strengthening our position as a trusted leader in the printing industry.’

The paper portfolio comprises eight colour ranges and 48 individual colours, any of which can be combined “harmoniously” with any of the other 47. It is aimed at companies wishing to improve their visual communication, for example when creating corporate materials such as catalogues, annual reports and brochures, product packaging and hang tags, stationery and mailings.

Rob Walker, director at Wigston Paper, explained that the company was keen to take on the Gmund Colors System as its proven success in other countries such as Italy suggested that it had potential for the UK market.

Designers can accurately measure colours from real-world objects or samples

Colour management technology company Datacolor has partnered with digital software developer Inèdit Software to introduce a colour measurement and selection solution to the digitally printed textile industry.

The partnership pairs Datacolor’s professional colour matching tool, ColorReaderPRO, with Inèdit’s textile design software neoCatalog, enabling designers to accurately measure colours from real-world objects or samples and update their textile designs instantaneously with the measured colour.

‘Thanks to the rising popularity of fast fashion, designers in the digitally printed textile industry have been eager for solutions that will allow them to turn inspiration into new designs as quickly as possible,’ said Oriol Martínez, business development manager of Inèdit. ‘By pairing our leading software with ColorReaderPRO, industry professionals can achieve reliable, accurate colour and get their digitally printed textile designs to market faster than ever.’

The solution allows designers to capture colour inspiration using the hand-held ColorReaderPRO tool, and transfer it wirelessly into a textile design using the Inèdit iPad app, similar to an eyedropper feature on a computer. Inèdit’s software connects designers, print houses and manufacturers, ensuring the exact colour measurements are communicated.

‘We are excited to bring our ultra-portable, best-in-class colour selection tool to the digital textile industry through our partnership with Inèdit Software,’ said Brian Levey, vice president of Consumer Solutions for Datacolor. ‘Because ColorReaderPRO is compact and easy to use, designers can measure any source of colour inspiration, wherever it strikes – whether in the office or on the go. We offer our partners native SDKs for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac to simplify the integration of ColorReaderPRO into their software applications, enabling multiple applications in various industries.’

The Inèdit software for ColorReaderPRO will be debuted at the SGIA Print Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Inèdit booth #1285 from 18-20 October.

Sign and graphics company Brett Martin is now procuring renewable electricity from a solar installation funded and developed by Lightsource BP.

The Northern Ireland-based manufacturer specialises in polycarbonate, foam pvc and PETg plastic sheets. Lightsource BP financed, completed and now operates the 6.42MWp solar installation near Belfast, which is hard-wired directly into Brett Martin’s facility just over a mile away.

Combined with the energy supplied by an onsite wind turbine the company now receives 25% of its energy requirements from renewable sources.

Laurence Martin, managing director, explained, ‘Brett Martin is experiencing a period of significant growth and development. Our core activity of processing plastics is very energy intensive and with energy costs in Northern Ireland at around 25% more than the European average, initiatives like this are critical to help us maintain our competitive edge.

‘This partnership with Lightsource more than doubles our renewable footprint and also highlights our commitment to environmentally sensitive manufacturing practice. We are very grateful to the many teams who provided help and assistance as we progressed the project to completion.’

The Gibson Farm solar installation was developed and constructed alongside an in-depth biodiversity management plan, detailing planting measures designed to support local wildlife.

The partnership will enable CSM students to use some of Epson’s latest textile printers

Arts and design college Central Saint Martins has formed a collaboration with Epson to support education and encourage students to experiment with its large format digital textile printers.

The partnership will enable fashion, textiles and jewellery students from Central Saint Martins, part of the University of the Arts London, to use the company’s latest dye sublimation printer, SureColor SC-F9300, the SureColor SC-F2100 direct to garment printer and an Expression 12000XL A3 scanner.

Laura Baker, 2d print specialist, CSM, said, ‘Experimentation is really important at Central Saint Martins. Students will learn the effects digital printing is capable of achieving but we also encourage them to push the technology to its limits by combining disciplines and techniques while experimenting with different materials and designs.’

Epson will work with Central Saint Martins over the next 12 months on a wide range of events, including a print project for 2nd Year BA Fashion students and London Fashion Week as well as profiling students who have used Epson technology to create their work.

‘We are delighted to be working in partnership with Central Saint Martins,’ added Heather Kendle, market development manager for Epson Europe. ‘Education is a key focus for us and we are constantly looking to encourage students to learn new skills and to push the boundaries of design. This partnership will be far more constructive than simply placing kit into the college as we will be able to use the students’ feedback to refine our technology even further.’
