Whitmar Publications is delighted to announce that Paul Sander is the new editor of Digital Printer, replacing Michael Walker, who has edited the magazine since 2017, and is moving on to pastures new. Mr Sander takes over with immediate effect.

Lindsey Pearson, Whitmar Publications’ managing director, commented, ‘I’d like to thank Michael for his hard work and dedication on Digital Printer over these years. He has been responsible for taking the title to new levels, and I’m sure all our readers and partners would wish him well for the next stage in his career.

‘At the same time, I am delighted to welcome Paul to the business. He is a highly experienced publishing and editorial professional, who has successfully run his own media agency for more than a decade. I know that Paul will be a huge asset to the magazine, applying his skills and personality to represent Digital Printer and keep it at the forefront of the industry.’

Mr Sander has more than 20 years of experience in the publishing industry and since 2009 was the proprietor of Panda Media, managing a wealth of content, production and design across a range of B2B publications.

‘I look forward to taking over from where Michael has positioned the magazine, and will continue to deliver the high-quality editorial our readers have become accustomed to. Of course, with all new tenures there will be an element of cross-over, but also a fresh set of eyes and ideas. Getting out and meeting many of you is high on my agenda,’ commented Mr Sander.

digitaltextileprinter.co.uk, the brand new website from Whitmar Publications, is live now! The new site joins existing brands Digital Printer, FlexoTech and Digital Labels and Packaging as part of Whitmar’s efforts to provide focused insight across the print industry.

Digital Textile Printer will be dedicated to every aspect of the digitally printed textiles market, including different printing technologies, every sort of application you can think of (and some that you won’t have), finishing equipment, fabrics, sustainability and more. Whether you are already involved in textile printing and are curious about digital, or a commercial printer keen to learn more about textiles, digitaltextileprinter.co.uk is the place for you.

Why are we covering textiles? In short because it’s a massive marketplace, ripe for digital disruption and one which presents countless opportunities for ambitious printers. It’s difficult to say just how large the textiles industry is, though it is unquestionably valued in the hundreds of billions of dollars and growing. Excitingly for printers, between 5 and 10% of all the textiles across the globe are now digitally printed and this percentage, like the wider market, is growing fast.

Across the realms of fashion and décor consumers are demanding shorter runs, personalisation, sustainable production and they want their products available at the click of a button. Digital printing is the perfect technology to help make all this possible and, as a result, direct-to-garment, dye sublimation, direct-to-film and other digital printing methods are flourishing.

So make sure you visit digitaltextileprinter.co.uk for fascinating case studies, probing interviews and full-length features and also make sure to sign up for Digital Textile Printer‘s dedicated e-newsletterto make certain that you receive all the most in-depth information at the first possible opportunity.

The Digital Printer Awards, the British print industry’s only comprehensive digital printing awards, has added a textile award to recognise the increasingly important roll that textiles play in the industry.

The Digitally Printed Textiles award, brand new for 2021, will encompass the entirety of décor, fabric and garment print, so the winning entry could be almost anything, provided it’s been digitally printed. When choosing the winner the judges will be looking for evidence of how digital printing on textiles has created new opportunities or solved existing challenges. They’ll also be taking into account fitness for purpose, quality and sustainability.

Given how varied the sector is, entrants won’t need to submit finished products except for smaller items such as shirts, bags or cushions. For anything larger swatches or samples produced the same way on the same materials will be accepted, along with high quality still photography and/or video of the finished product. Supporting evidence of commercial success/client satisfaction should be provided, where possible.

The award will be presented, along with 15 others that run the entire gamut of digital printing, at a ceremony on 4 November at the Marriott London Grosvenor Square. One winner from amongst those 16 will also be crowned Supreme winner of the entire event, perhaps it will be the textiles entry!

After a brutal 18 months, The Digital Printer Awards will be one of the print industry’s first chances to get together in person, so if you want to be a part of the celebrations make sure your get ready putting your entries together and booking your tickets now!

The Digital Printer Awards are judged by an esteemed panel of independent industry professionals and are FREE to enter (up to three entries per category). For more information and to download an entry form please visit the website, or if you have any questions contact Chloe Ward at chloe.w@whitmar.co.uk.
