Architectural signage specialist Signbox has appointed Hayley Hodgson as general manager. She brings 18 years of experience working in the sign industry with 13 years in project and account management and five years in strategic operations and management to the role.

Ms Hodgson has joined Signbox after 14 years at Octink. During her time there, she project managed signage contracts whilst running a small team of junior project managers. She then became head of project management, looking after a team of over 20 project managers before taking on the role of general manager at the company in 2020.

Ms Hodgson commented, ‘I have known about Signbox for a long time, and I know they are a forward-thinking company with a fantastic culture for innovation and excellence in sign-making. I am also keen to get more involved in new sectors and products, there is great potential to do this with Signbox.’

Mark Bartlett, managing director of Signbox, said, ‘Hayley brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in the industry. She has delivered and overseen some truly incredible projects, as well as having an extensive background in account management, business strategy and senior leadership. She will play a pivotal role in taking Signbox into a new and positive era of innovation and success for our company.’

Architectural signage company Signbox has used its duo of HP Latex 800W printers to produce a range of wall and ceiling graphics for the visitor experience at 22 Bishopsgate in London.

The company began working with Multiplex, the construction company behind 22 Bishopsgate, back in 2019, producing a range of graphics and wayfinding signs for the 65-floor building.

Among the applications delivered by Signbox on the 22 Bishopsgate project were experiential wall and ceiling graphics, installed in September 2023 at the entrance to the site’s public viewing experience.

The entrance to Horizon 22 is now decorated with graphics printed in-house at Signbox on a pair of HP Latex 800W printers which were installed in the summer of 2023 by HP reseller Colyer.

Using the HP Latex 800W machines is said to not only ensure a high-quality print on all graphics but also offer a sustainable element to the project, given that all HP Latex printers use HP Latex ink, which is claimed to be significantly kinder to the environment than solvent, eco-solvent, and UV inks.

The reliability of the HP Latex 800W printers and their ability to deliver high quality, accurate prints, meant Signbox was able to deliver and install the graphics on time for the client.

Greg Bailey, senior project manager of Signbox said, ‘We achieved all our self-imposed KPI targets set out at the start of the project and completed our works snag-free at the point of handover.

‘Due to the dynamic nature of the project, it required us to be hyper agile, reacting to changes in the design of the built environment as the project progressed. We managed to achieve all client variations and deliver these within the main project period.

‘The final finishing detail of our work is outstanding; this was the opinion of the client team as well as ourselves.’

The project also won gold in the Interior Décor category at the 2024 UK Sign Awards.

After scooping four awards at the 2021 UK Graphics Awards, Surrey-based architectural signage solutions provider Signbox has praised its pair of HP Latex 300 Series printers for allowing it to undertake an innovative signage and decor project.

The project saw Signbox, in partnership with HLW Architects and BW Interiors, produce a wide range of applications for Pernod Ricard, the company behind drinks brands Jameson, Havana Club, Beefeater, Malibu and Jacob’s Creek.

The company was tasked with delivering a brand experience to various meeting rooms and areas throughout the new Pernod Ricard UK headquarters in West London.

This included a range of 3D lettering and signage alongside of wallpaper backdrops, all of which were printed using HP Latex Series printers and onto Digimura wallcovering media, a product selected for its environmental credentials and fire-retardant qualities.

‘The HP Latex printers produce first-class quality print on any job we run, and this was no exception,’ commented Signbox managing director Mark Bartlett. ‘The HP Latex inks conform so much better to Digimura than other inks; we don’t get the issue of ink sitting on the surface and it doesn’t crack.

‘We’re also really happy with the colour gamut of the HP Latex Series. Even if you are running pieces from the same job on two different machines, the colours will always match.’

The project went so well that Signbox won two 2021 UK Graphics Awards for it, the ‘Branded Interiors Project of the Year Award,’ and ‘Best in Show Award’. The company also picked up the ‘Innovation Award’ and ‘Wide-Format Print Company of the Year (30+ Employees)’, celebrating its other work and efforts throughout the past year.

‘We were absolutely gobsmacked to win the four awards,’ Mr Bartlett added. ‘We were incredibly humbled by the wins and real credit has to go to our team of dedicated staff.’
